20 Habits To Make 2024 Your Best Year Yet!

20 Habits To Make 2024 Your Best Year Yet!

We made it! Another year officially in the books. I hope you all had a fantastic 2023 and are off to an even better start for 2024. Since we are starting a new year, I wanted to give you some ideas for habits you could try to have your best year yet. You don't have to include all these habits into your daily routine - pick a few that you feel would make the highest impact in your life and stick with those. Like I mentioned in my 2024 Goals video, try to imagine your highest self and choose goals or habits that will help you get closer to that version of you.

Also, try not to get too overwhelmed when starting a new habit. Understand it takes time, consistency, and dedication to really solidify your new habits into your day-to-day life. I've seen some articles say it takes 21 days to form a habit, others say 66. Regardless, it doesn't happen overnight. Stay dedicated and make the change for you.

1. Morning Routine

2024 is the year of routines! Establishing a consistent morning routine helps set a positive tone for the day, can lead to more productivity, and better your overall well-being. I love my morning routine. It can be whatever gets you motivated to start the day. You could go for a morning run, stretch, get a cup of coffee, meditate, and so much more! Find what works for you and be consistent each day.

2. Regular Exercise

Including regular exercise into your routine not only helps with physical health but also boosts mood and cognitive function, contributing to a happier and healthier life. We all know how important exercise is for us, but it's easy to fall off here and there. If you're able to stay disciplined and consistent with your exercise, it can help you gain momentum in all other aspects of life. Staying consistent with a good workout routine is one of my personal goals this year as well.

3. Healthy Eating

Focusing on a balanced and nutritious diet provides the essential nutrients your body needs, supporting overall health and energy levels. Having good energy levels is crucial to being as productive as possible. Healthy eating may even be more important than going to the gym. Start small by adding in healthier options before you start reducing the unhealthy ones. This will help ease the transition - remember it's a lifestyle, not a diet!

4. Sufficient Sleep

Prioritizing sleep is crucial for physical and mental recovery, ensuring you wake up refreshed and ready to tackle the day. This is a habit I struggle to be consistent with but am working to fix that. Life can get pretty busy at times and it's easy to get wrapped up in work, your phone, watching TV, etc. so  you lose track of time and stay up late. Try to make it a point to go to sleep at the same time every night and get at least 7-8 hours of sleep.

5. Reading

Reading is one of my favorite hobbies. I've found that consistently reading broadens my knowledge, stimulates my mind, and offers a valuable escape into different worlds and perspectives. I think it's a great habit to pick up in your free time, plus it's so much fun!

6. Set Goals

Defining clear and achievable goals provides direction and purpose, motivating you to work towards personal and professional growth. It helps keep you on track and is an essential part of personal development. You can set them for each year, month, or even each day. Check out our All-In-One Goal & Habit Tracker if you need a place to brainstorm and track your goals.

7. Financial Planning

Creating a budget and savings plan contributes to increasing financial stability, reducing stress and promoting a secure future. Taking some time out each month to budget can give great results. We offer the perfect tool to help you do that which you can find here.

8. Regular Self-Reflection

Taking time for regular self-reflection enhances self-awareness, helping you learn from experiences and make more informed decisions. Doing this each day can teach you new things about yourself and help realize where you can improve.

9. Social Connection

Building and maintaining meaningful relationships with friends and family can help you feel more fulfilled and supported, contributing to overall happiness and well-being.

10. Learn a New Skill

Challenging yourself to learn new skills keeps your mind sharp, boosts confidence, and opens up new opportunities for personal and professional development. Find something you are interested in and commit a certain amount of time to it each week. My personal goal is to become better at speaking and understanding Spanish, so I'm setting aside at least 2 hours per week to study.

11. Digital Detox

Setting boundaries on screen time and practicing regular digital detoxes can help with mental clarity, stress reduction, and being present. We live in a time where everything is digital and unless we make it a point to step away. Take some time away from your devices and knock out your tasks you have been meaning to do or even just get some fresh air.

12. Kindness

Building a habit of kindness towards others creates a positive and supportive environment, benefiting both you and those around you.

13. Effective Communication

Improving communication skills strengthens relationships, enhances collaboration, and contributes to personal and professional success. This can be written communication, verbal communication, or both!

14. Gratitude Practices

Expressing gratitude regularly really helps put you in a positive mindset. You have great things going for you in your life. Studies show that practicing gratitude can lead to lower levels of stress, depression, and anxiety. When we focus on what we have rather than what we lack, it shifts our perspective, making us more resilient against stress and emotional setbacks.

15. Practice Positivity

Choosing a positive perspective, even in challenging situations, builds resilience and contributes to a more optimistic and fulfilling life.

16. Limit Procrastination

Breaking tasks into smaller, manageable steps helps overcome procrastination, leading to increased productivity and a sense of accomplishment. If you find yourself unable to focus, try using the Pomodoro Method. This is a great way to limit your distractions and work in focus blocks.

19. Embrace Failure

Viewing failure as a learning opportunity promotes resilience, growth, and a willingness to take calculated risks while working towards your goals. We all fail, we all make mistakes, embrace them so you can use them as a learning experience instead of getting discouraged.

18. Time Management

Learning to manage your time effectively enhances productivity, reduces stress, and allows for a better balance between work and personal life.

19. Staying Hydrated

Drinking enough water throughout the day supports overall health, improves cognitive function, and boosts energy levels. I aim to drink 2-3 Stanley's per day!

20. Mindfulness and Meditation

Incorporating mindfulness and meditation into your daily routine reduces stress, improves focus, and enhances overall mental well-being.

Habits are the building blocks of our lives, shaping daily routines and influencing our journey toward success and well-being. From a consistent morning routine to efficient time management and regular reading, these small choices compound over time, leading to significant and lasting transformations. As we enter 2024, let's recognize the profound impact our habits can have in creating a more fulfilling and purposeful life.
